The Weight of glory

Listening to: I Love You by Upperroom

In January of this year, the holy Spirit stopped me in my tracks and said something astounding. He said,

“The Weight of My Glory is heavier and weighs more than all of the burdens in this world combined, yet it is light and easier to carry than anything in this world.”

Struggling with many burdens in my heart, I felt restless and weighed down by anxiety, fear, worry, and pressure. I cracked open my bible and was led to a scripture that was ringing in my heart for a month:

'Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.’ — Hebrews 12:1 NLT

The Amplified version says, “Stripping off every unnecessary weight,” (i love that!)

I heard the Holy Spirit say, “Eden, you need to lose weight” And I finally understood what he meant and the only one who could help me with this weight loss was him, my lord, Jesus.

His invitation was clearly written for me:

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” — ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Rest is God’s will for you and I. But we’ll never experience it if we’re clinging to burdens and weights that Only Jesus can carry.

“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” — ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I heard a man of god say, “If you’re feeling restless or anxious in your life as a christian, there is a level of pride at work.” It’s time to humbly rely on God.

it's prideful to think I can control what people think about me, personally, that's too much weight for me to carry.

it's prideful to think I can control the outcome of a situation, personally, that's too much weight for me to carry.

So today, I encourage you to examine the areas of your life where you feel burdened, restless, and anxious. and surrender them to him one by one.

Prayer:

Lord, you invited me to come to you with my burdens. I choose to lose weight today by Laying them all at your feet. I humble myself to say that i cannot carry this on my own. so i give my burdens to you and choose to carry the weight of your glory today: the only burden that is light and easy. form a gentle and humble spirit in me, in jesus’ name, amen.

With Love,

Eden
