Listening to: London by Robert Glasper
'Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. '
Revelation 3:20 NKJV
Lord, we need to abide in you and find our home in you. Teach us what this means.
I think of John the beloved leaning on Jesus’ chest
Listening to His heartbeat
Knowing Him in that intimate way at that table as they dined at the last Supper.
'One of His disciples, whom Jesus loved, was leaning against Jesus’ chest. '
John 13:23 AMP
I hadn’t seen this scripture before but I loved the realness of it. This is a posture that you have when you’re comfortable with someone, when you know them.
Psalms 139: 1 says, “O Lord, You have searched me and known me.”
Since God knows us in a loving and even more intimate way than this, where he knows the number of hairs on our heads and has thoughts toward us outnumbering the grains of sand on this earth, we should also pursue knowing Him in this way. being able to be open, honest, and real with him.
Not doing what we think he wants us to do, saying what we think he wants us to say. Not being led by your emotions, feelings, and your ideas of what is right.
reading his word and listening to hear his voice.
Many of us only hear Jesus from the other side of the door, a muffled voice where we’re guessing if it’s him speaking.
For many others, we don’t even hear the knocking because there is so much going on in the home of our hearts and Lives.
There is a reason why we’re called God’s building in 1 Corinthians 3:9. there’s a reason why He said he’ll come and make his home with us in John 14:23. it's time to let him in.
He already knows you, so make the room, make the space to know him also with such comfort. it’s a beautiful place to be :)
xoxo :)
With love,
Eden
